New Technology for optimum efficiency

In these tough economic times Siemens VAI realise the importance of controlling both quality and productivity to ensure the mill is run in the most cost efficient way. To assist producers in these economic times, Siemens VAI are pleased to introduce two new products aimed at improving production efficiency for long product producers. The first is the next generation of the worlds leading fully rotating gauge, the SIROLL ORBIS+. The Orbis gauge is a fully rotating optical measurement system for use in rod and bar mills. The product passes through the gauge where an optical measuring head rotates around the bar at up to 200RPM giving full profile measurements of solid shapes e.g. round squares hexagons etc. The gauge is not affected by twist and vibration, providing key measurement parameters to the operator in graphical and numerical form. The gauge uses a back collimated light and a linescan camera to see a shadow of the product resulting in high speed profile data rates.
