As the Chairman of SAIL now what has been your outlook on your company which is passing through a bad economic condition in the country now? The impact of the global recession and financial meltdown on the steel industry in India has been manifest in a slowdown in end-user segments like automobile and construction. The boost to infrastructure and construction sector is key to revival in demand and recent measures taken by the Govt. would be helpful. Nevertheless we cannot expect to see the growth level which we witnessed in recent years. As for SAIL, production is now tuned entirely to market demand in order to avoid inventory accumulation.
