Carsid (Duferco Group)relies on Danieli Davy Distington wide slab casting technology for the major upgrading of its slab production complex at Charteroi, Belgium

In April 2008, Carsid, the Belgian steelmaker that's part of Dufereo Group, awarded Danieli the order for a major upgrade of its slab production complex in Charleroi, including the supply of a new wide slab caster and new RH degassing plant (for RH degasser, see page XX). The Carsid slab production site is located in Marcinelle (Charleroi), Belgium, and is meant to feed slabs to Duferco mills located in La Louviere and Clabecq. In order to enlarge its product mix and further penetrate the market of top applications for heavy plates, Carsid decided to install a new casting facility designed to produce about 2 Mtpy of slabs, up to 2600 mm wide, and up to 350 mm thick (a remarkable increase, from present 1600 mm and 220 mm, respectively).
