Santosh Mahanti : You have been selling Elkem Microsilica to the Indian refractory industry for a period of more than last 18 years. Please give your views about the extent of growth of the business in India? Mr. S. A. Hasbi: Yes, we have been supplying Elkem Microsilica Grade 971 to the Indian Refractory Industry over the last 18 years or so and the business has steadily grown during this period and I am optimistic that it will follow the same growth curve in the coming years and at a better pace. Our business is very much dependent on 2-3 factors. First being the growth in the Indian Steel Industry, which by far is the major consumer of refractory products, second is the acceptance of monolithic refractories over the shaped/prefired refractories (Bricks) by the steel industry and the third is acceptance of monolithic refractories by the other user industries. As you can see, the Indian steel industry is on a steady growth path and so also the acceptance of monolithic refractories mainly the new generation castables such as LCCs, ULCCs and Self-Flowing Castables etc, in the steel and other user industries.
