Highlights of The Iron & Steel Society's 43rd Mechanical Working and Steel Processing, 59th Electric Furnace and 19th Process Technology Conferences

The 43rd ISS Mechanical Working and Steel Processing, 59th Electric Furnace and 19th Process Technology Conferences were held as scheduled during the fourth quarter of 2001. Each three-day event provided attendees with an opportunity to gain insight on the latest advances in physical metallurgy and solid state processing of ferrous-based materials, as well as all aspects of electric furnace steelmaking along with cutting-edge technology from authors and exhibitors.The MWSP Conference, Oct. 28 to 31 in Charlotte, N.C., featured 18 sessions with 89 presentations, more than half of which were presented by international authors. Subjects included: bar product physical metallurgy, roll technology, tank car technology, physical metallurgy of emerging steel processing technologies, effects of processing, structure and properties on formability, flat roll and products and student research.
