Latest Developments of a New Technology HSS Work Roll for Later Stands (F4-F7) in Hot Strip Mill Finishing Trains

A new anti-sticking type of highspeed steel (HSS) roll for later stands In hot strip mills has been developed. Conventional cast and CPC-type HSS roils have higher wear resistance than high-chromium or indefinite chilled double-poured rolls; however, they show inferior anti-sticking resistance. Because of this, HSS rolls have not been used in later stands. Newly developed HSS rolls have superior anti-sticking resistance and wear resistance, combined properties which have been missing In earlier-generation HSS rolls.
