Latest development and application of refractories for flow control of molten steel

Refractories for flow control have been used for passing route of refined molten steel from a ladle to a casting mould through a tundish. Apart from their ordinary function of merely ensuring the flow route of he molten steel, they have an important role on determining the propterties of the steel products through controlling the rate of flow in the molten state, with straightening its stream, sealing against oxidation from open air and eliminating the chance of an inclusion involving. The recent progress of the refractories for flow control has been reviewed from both aspects of structure developments to intensify their function and material development to increase their durability.
