Santosh Mahanti: What are your views on the current market scenario with regard to the metals business? N. Ravi: The metals industry is going through a rapid growth phase especially in India and China. The macro-economic scenario in these countries is very favourable. India has been growing in excess of 8 percent GDP over the last five years and is expected to increase this growth momentum in the next decade. Steel being a core industry closely follows this trend. Hence, we believe that the steel industry is going to witness a rapid expansion in this country. India's current capacity is 53 MT and is likely to go upto 150 MT by 2015. With rich deposits of iron ore, skilled manpower and a favourable investment climate, India is slowly emerging as the steel melt shop of the world.
