Calumet Steel starts up first VAI POMINI continuous casting plant

VAI POMINI, Inc., Pittsburgh/USA, announced the start up of the first VAI POMINI, caster in the USA. The casting plant was originally sold by the Rokop Business Unit of Techint Technologies Inc., which is now a part of VAI POMINII, a supplier of long products technology. The caster successfully started operation in May 2001.The new continuous casting plant produces 4" (100 mm) and 6" (150 mm) square billets in special bar quality. Calumet steel serves a wide variety of customers, mostly in small orders for niche markets within the construction and farm equipment sectors.
