Intermetal, Tunisia, commissions upgraded bar/section mill

Commissioning of stage-1 upgrading of Intermetal SA's bar and section mill was successfully completed at beginning of June 2001. This basically included the installation of a new 5-stand SHS continuous finishing mill, QTB water-quenching and self-tempering line and new dividing shear before cooling bed. In the mean time, activity for stage-2 plant upgrading (ordered earlier this year) is in progress and the associated startup is scheduled for spring 2002. The second stage involves the installation a new continuous roughing/ intermediate mill, automatic cooling bed with entry/delivery services, in-line multistrand straightening/cutting-to-length facilities and a new stacking/bundling station.
