It is widely acknowledged today that I Slag Free Tapping to prevent carry over of slag from primary melting unit to the ladles has become a pre-requisite for meeting the stringent demands of secondary steelmaking. Slag free tapping helps in achieving improved control over refining operations and productivity. More importantly it substantially cuts down steelmaking cost and obviously improves quality of the steel produced. Ferro Alloys Corporation at Nagpur having a 20 M/T EAF decided to install the Flogates Model 2215 Furnace Gate Valve on their furnace. The operational improvements resulting from the installation have reduced the average cost per tonne melted substantially. FACOR expects to recover the investment cost in just under 4 to 6 months.
