In secondary steelmaking, the most important process is done at the Ladle Metallurgical Furnace (LMF), where the target chemistry of the steel is met. After the process carried out in LMF, the steel needs to be casted carefully without allowing any re-oxidation or exposure to nitrogen pickup as because the re-oxidation of steel forms inclusion that make negative impact on quality of the steel and the nitrogen pickup causes the formation of nitrides that makes the steel brittle.
