Blast Furnace Repairs through Remote Controlled Gunning from Calderys India

Extension of Blast Furnace (BF) life by repairing the stack, by gunning repair, is a common practice world over. In recent past, this trend has caught up in India too. Calderys India has been in the forefront of this repair technology of BF Stack. What has helped Calderys India, in this specific field, is the inputs from its European sister units, who have global experience in this repair technology. Calderys, at global level, have completed repair of over 90 BFs by gunning. Till date, Calderys India has carried out repairs, by gunning technology, of numerous BFs of varied sizes. For all these repairs, locally produced materials have been used. Calderys have the option of using gunning as well as shotcreting materials for carrying out BF repair by gunning. Calderys India, however, have carried out all these repairs by using gunning materials. In this paper, we have shared our installation experience as well as results of the jobs carried out by us in some of the steel plants across India.
