Blast Furnace 8 Project makes fast progress--Cast House De-dusting Chimney Erected in Record Time

Bhilai Steel Plant's Blast Furnace No. 8 Project is making fast progress by the day. The latest milestone crossed in this important project of BSP's 7 MT Modernisation & Expansion Programme is the erection of Cast House De-dusting Chimney in record time of four months.An RCC type chimney, the 80 metre high structure is of reducing diameter design. The chimney structure takes a conical shape as the chimney rises in height from zero level to 53 metre. The base diameter of the chimney is 11.128 metre at (-) 2.8 metre level whereas the diameter of the straight or cylindrical portion of the chimney above the 53 metre height, is 6.20 metre.
