Nearly 20,000 UK jobs in wind and marine energy industries

The UK wind, wave and tidal energy sectors directly employ nearly 18,500 people full time; equivalent to three times the number of people employed in UK coal industry and a 74% increase in jobs since 2010. That's according to a new report: Working for a Green Britain and Northern Ireland, published by RenewableUK, the trade body for the UK wind and marine renewables sector. The report shows that the offshore wind sector saw the biggest growth between 2010 and 2013, with the number of direct jobs more than doubling from 3,200 to 6,800.
