CFLs could cut global lighting electricity demand by 40%

A rapid programme of replacement of the world's incandescent lightbulbs with compact fluorescent lamps(CFLs)could reduce lighting energy demand by around 40%.This is according to the Worldwatch Institute,which predicts that the energy savings would amount to a reduction of roughly 16.6bn tonnes of carbon dioxide by the year 2030.
