The deadline for EU Member States to comply with the second phase of European energy liberalisation is 1 July 2007 but,according to research by market analyst Datamonitor,with many countries likely to fall well short of the required standard,the final phase of energy market liberalisation in the EU will precipitate a new of era of European Commission (EC) activism in the energy sector.
