摘要

Two more large coal-fired power stations dating back to the 1970s are to close as their operators put an end to loss-making operation. ENGIE has announced that its 1,000 MW Rugeley Power Station in Staffordshire is expected to cease operations in early summer due to the deterioration in market conditions for coal-fired power generation. The power station, also known as Rugeley B, is jointly owned by ENGIE (75%) and Mitsui & Co (25%) and has been in operation since 1970. Built on the same site in the 1950s, Rugeley A was decommissioned in 1996.
