Five thousand 1.5 MW wind turbines in place

GE Energy says it has surpassed 5,000 installations for its 1.5 MW wind turbine-claimed to be one of the most widely used wind power machines used in the world.The first 1.5 MW machine was installed in 1996 in Germany,but much of the surge in orders has occurred in the US,where the wind industry has received a major boost since the extension of the federal production tax credit at the end of 2005.
