A study of the susceptibility to pitting corrosion in NaCl solutions of sprayed and deposited Fe40 (atom %) Al-based intermetallic materials in 0.1 M NaCl solution at room temperature using electrochemical noise was performed. The experiments lasted 24 h. The testing materials included Fe40Al, Fe40Al + 0.1%B, and Fe40Al + 0.1%B + 10%Al_2O_3 The electrochemical noise readings showed that the base material, Fe40Al, was severely pitted, while the Fe40Al + 0.1B + 10Al_2O_3 material, exhibited mild pitting corrosion at the beginning, but after 24 h the material was passivated, whereas the Fe40Al + 0.1B was not pitted throughout the experiment. The pitting on these materials did not show a chaotic behavior.
