The highest trivalent ion conductivity wassuccessfully realized for the composite of 0.75Sc2(WO4)3-0.25ScTaO4. Here, scandium tantalate was microscopicallydispersed simultaneously during the preparation process to obtaina microscopically mixed composite and the enhancement of theSc3+ ionic conduction was achieved. From the measurements ofthe electrical conductivity dependencies on oxygen partialpressure, the polarization behavior, and electrolysis, the mobileion was shown to be Sc3+ ion and the other of the cations, i.e.,Ta5+ and W6+ were found to operate as lattice forming ions with the oxide ions.
