Oil Equities Disconnect From Crude Prices in March

The top integrated oil equities traded in New York closely tracked robust crude prices during the month of February, but March was a different story (EIF Mar.7' 12). The EIF Global Oil & Gas Index magnified the volatility seen in crude oil prices and the broader market in the second half of the month, and by the end of the first week of April, the index had retraced all of its 2012 gains.
