A method for preparing the cathodoluminescentred phosphor europium-doped yttrium oxide (Y2O3: Eu) using aself-assembling micelle mechanism is described. The resultingfine powder has smaller sized particles, ranging form 0.1 to 1.0μm, than does the commercial Y2O3: Eu phosphor.Cathodoluminescence measurements shoed that the phosphorwas comparable to commercial products at low voltage excitation.
