Regional Deep Dive: US Permian Operators Find Capital to Fuel Acquisitions

Capital markets may be tightening for oil producers as crude hangs below $50 per barrel, but operators in the US Permian Basin are holding a better hand than many when convincing investors to open their wallets. US E&Ps broadly executed a flurry of secondary stock offerings in the first few months of 2015 to help recapitalize their cash-strapped balance sheets (EIF Aug.12'15). Now, it is almost exclusively Permian operators that can even consider secondary issuances in the tightening market — and a large chunk of those proceeds are set to fund bolt-on acquisitions.
