LyondellBasell to proceed with Texas PO-TBA plant

LyondellBasell Industries has made a fnal investment decision to go ahead with a previously announced propylene oxide (PO) and tert-butyl alcohol (TBA) plant at Channelview, Texas. The project is estimated to cost $2.4 billion, representing the single-largest capital investment in LyondellBasell's history, the company says. The plant will produce about 470,000 metric tons/year of PO and 1 million metric tons/year of TBA. An associated ethers unit, which will convert TBA to oxyfuels, is proposed for the com- pany's Bayport complex near Pasadena, Texas.
