摘要

Moderately concentrated strong and weak acids and bases can be titrated with results of high quality, very competitive with traditional titration methods, by using the pH-static option available in many potentiometric titrators. The pH-static technique is particularly suitable for standardization of secondary standard solutions; in the case of standardization of strong bases contaminated by carbonate, it yields the effective titer, prevailing at the end-point pH of specific analyses. It can also provide precise and accurate values of acidity constants. For several applications the pH-static approach seems suitable to supersede other titration procedures, if dedicated apparatus, capable of simultaneous controlled additions of two reactants, is made available.
