By appointing former BP Chief Executive Tony Hayward as its new full-time chairman, Swiss-based, London-listed diversified mining and commodities player Glencore has sent a clear signal that oil will remain a key part of its portfolio and that it is stepping up its quest for more production and reserves around the world.
