With the arrival of a more moderate administration in Tehran and talk of an altered approach to upstream contracts, some Western oil companies are starting to openly reveal an interest in working in Iran — undermining the taboo of recent years against even mentioning the heavily sanctioned country. Indeed, Iran was a major topic of conversation at this week's Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (Adipec), with questions put to nearly all the Western oil majors.
