China's CNPC,Shell win crucial upstream deals:CNPC to develop oil field,Shell to develop natural gas reserves

The Iraqi government has given China National Petroleum Corporation(CNPC)the go-ahead to exploit the al-Ahdab oil field in Wasit Governorate at the border with Iran.CNPC's contract for the field is said to be worth some US 3 billion.Production costs at the al-Ahdab field are estimated at a very attractive US6 per barrel.
