Airlines to suffer $11 billion losses on falling yields, rising fuel costs

The global airlines industry could report record losses of $11 billion this year, up from an earlier forecast of $9 billion, on account of poor margins and rising fuel costs.In releasing its latest grim forecast, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) said industry revenues for the year are expected to fall by US$80 billion (15%) to US$455 billion compared with 2008 levels.
