In 2012 January's Bulletin, I concluded a three-part article looking at the common challenges faced by greenkeepers and how a lack of understanding, based on subjective opinions, can cause conflict or just confuse situations. A year on, we can now think back and reflect on (pretty much) a year to forget, but also recognise the magnitude of challenges faced during the past 12 months and learn from the experience. Prevailing wet conditions during the wettest summer in a hundred years has influenced changes to management programmes, with many courses experiencing interruptions to fixture lists and work programmes. In this article, I aim to review some common issues and topics of conversation discussed during agronomy visits in 2012. Although every course is unique, the chances are that the points discussed have affected your course in some shape or form.
