Most current solutions use cross arm mounted isolation and bypass disconnector designs, either single or three phase. The cost associated with these designs not only includes the disconnectors but also the cost of longer poles, additional cross arms and associated line hardware. However, the most significant cost of the whole exercise is the installation, The finished installation is an untidy and time consuming exercise that ties up skilled and expensive resources in a de-energised network, a further problem for maintenance.
