Resource giants disappointed with resources rent tax

BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto expressed their disappointment with the Federal Government's plan to impose a new resource rent tax. The Henry Review, announced in early May, proposes to generate profit through the Resources Super Profits Tax. The imposition of this new tax would result in an increase in the total effective tax rate to be set at: 40 per cent of Profits and will be channelled into a new infrastructure fund for the states and territories.
