Is Reverse Polarity just an interesting technical term or something learnt at college and conveniently forgotten? There were four reported Reverse Polarities that caused electric shock in Queensland in the last year and 22 in the last five years. Evidence suggests similar problems across Australia. Every day electrical workers are making and breaking connections on the distribution network, service lines, consumers mains, sub-mains and MEN points. Ask yourself these questions before performing any work Do I understand the dangers associated with this type of work? Have I been trained to prove polarity and understand the tests? Am I competent to perform those tests? Do I understand the test instrument I will be using? If you answered 'no' to any of these questions, don't proceed.
