ENERGY MARKET REVIEW THREATENS JOBS

The recently released COAG Energy Market Review takes a very short-term approach to addressing greenhouse gas emissions and could see Australia lose billions of dollars of investment and thousands of jobs in future, according the Australian Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE). The review puts at risk 4 billion dollars in annual sales, which Minister Macfarlane said the industry was on track to deliver. "In recommending to scrap Australia's world leading renewable energy program, the review ignores the industry development objectives of the program solely to ensure the lowest short term cost," BCSE executive director Ric Brazzale said.
