China keeps focus on low-sulphur coke in April

Chinese green petroleum coke imports were about 30pc lower on the year in April, as importers focus on less-widely-avail- able low-sulphur coke. The country imported about 362,000t of petroleum coke in April, down from about 524,000t a year earlier, according to customs data. The decline was entirely a result of lower high-sulphur coke imports. Imports of coke with more than 3pc sulphur fell by 66pc to a little over 150,000t. Imports of less- than-3pc-sulphur coke, on the other hand, surged to 209,700t from just 80,800t a year earlier.
