G7 to end coal ‘subsidies’ by 2025

The G7 is committed to eliminating “ineffcient” fossil fuel subsidies within a decade, it said on 27 May. The decision could potentially cut off billions of dollars of finance for coal projects. Ending subsidies, which cause excess energy consumption and production, would combat climate change, the group of major economies said at the close of a summit in Japan.
