USW suspends section 201 aluminium petition

The United Steelworkers has suspended a Section 201 petition it filed earlier this week intended to stem the flow of lowpriced aluminium imports into the US. The petition was halted because “many in the industry refused to support the case,” the union said in a statement on 22 April. After the petition was filed on 18 April, the Aluminum Association released a statement that it planned to review the petition and its effect on the “entire aluminium value chain,” but expressed no support.
