Anode-grade petroleum coke prices were flat to higher on the US Gulf coast in January on tightening supply, as the shakeout from falling crude prices makes it more economic for refiners to run more heavy sour crudes. Some aluminium producers anticipated that the drop in US crude prices would reduce anode-grade coke prices, but were met with resistance in January as reduced supply was met with steady demand.
