Noble’s profits fall but coal volumes, revenue rise

Asian trading firm Noble’s net profits fell by over a quarter last year, but its energy division grew, driven by the coal and carbon department. Net profits fell to $431.3mn, down by 28.8pc following what the company called a “challenging” year. But the en- ergy coal and carbon complex division reported record vol- umes last year, up by 4pc, and record revenue, up by 25pc, despite closing its European coal trading division last year.
