Greenfield refineries not needed, IEA says

There is enough global refining capacity to meet product demand as far out as 2035, the IEA says. Investment in greenfield refining is not needed on a global basis, “in stark contrast” to the upstream sector. Current installed capacity is 93mn b/d with utilisation of 77mn b/d. Global demand for refined products is expected to rise by 10mn b/d between now and 2035.
