Indian coke imports rise sharply

India ramped up its petroleum coke imports in April and May as cement makers frmly favoured coke over coal. India has now taken 15pc more coke in the frst fve months of this year than it took in all of 2014. The country imported 976,200t of coke in April, compared with 756,700t in April 2015, an increase of 29pc, according to shipping statistics. In May, imports were up by 83pc to more than 1.2mn t.
