Outright crude oil prices recovered some of the previous month’s losses in December, firming by an average of $1.59/ bl to $88.25/bl. Falling US crude inventories, strong economic indicators and progress in negotiations to prevent the fiscal cliff in the US towards the end of the year helped boost global prices, halting a two-month slide in values.
