Venezuela economic data excludes oil

Venezuela’s central bank said the economy shrank by 5.7pc in 2015 and by 3.9pc in 2014, bringing some official macroeconomic figures up to date. But in a departure from historical practice, the bank’s report excluded financial and operational data on the oil sector’s performance last year. State-owned oil company PdV, which generates over 95pc of Venezuela’s annual hard currency revenue, separately reported a full-year 2015 average export price of $44.65/bl, a decline of almost 50pc 49.5pc compared to full-year 2014’s average export price of $88.42/bl.
