Vale looks to expand Mozambique coal operations

Brazilian mining company Vale expects coal production at its Moatize project in Mozambique to more than double in 2017, with thermal coal likely to represent over one-third of output. Some large Indian cement buyers turned to Mozambique coal earlier this year as an alternative amid sharply rising petroleum coke prices and higher South African coal costs. But supply of this coal was limited.
