Analyst: LNG To Cost More Than Oil As Spot Price Stays At 20 mBtu High

While crude oil prices have plunged more than 15% from their peak on July 11, spot liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes in Asia continue to be traded around their record highs of US20 per million British thermal unit (Btu). From around US2-3 per million Btu in 2002 when the world market was glutted, LNG prices have surged by nearly 10 times to today's levels. In contrast, US crude futures have risen by a mere six times over the same period.
