Mitsubishi to Supply Compressor Trains for Ethylene XXI Project

Braskem (Sao Paulo) says it has a signed a deal with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to supply three compressor trains for the planned 1.05 million m.t./year Ethylene XXI complex at Coatzacoalcos, Mexico with jv partner Idesa (Mexico City). The equipment will include a charge gas compressor train, which compresses gas produced by thermally cracking natural gas, and two trains with ethylene and propylene refrigeration compressors, Braskem says. "Together the three trains consist of five compressors, three steam turbines to drive the compressors, and auxiliary devices, including control systems and condensers," Braskem says. Mitsubishi will deliver the compressors and turbines to Braskem Idesa in the spring of 2013.
