After reading the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme green paper I am not convinced that the Australian carbon trading scheme is going to be sustainable in the long term, The whole scheme is based on the premise that reducing carbon emissions will save the planet from climate change. The first paragraph of the green paper states that "carbon pollution is causing climate change, resulting in higher temperatures, more droughts, rising sea levels and more extreme weather". This is a very big call to make and requires some scientific justification.
