Choice of fund was introduced from July 1, 2005 and aimed to give greater freedom to employees to choose their super fund. It also gave greater focus to the responsibility of employers to nominate an employer fund that they could offer to employees. For many major employers in the energy sector, Equipsuper is the nominated employer fund, recognising Equipsuper's long-term involvement with, and deep understanding of, the sector.
