Wabash Valley coke plant to be revived

An Indiana coke gasifcation plant will be reimagined as a fer- tilizer producer in a deal that revives the mothballed project. The Wabash Valley integrated gasifcation combined cycle plant was set to be idled this month amid rising costs after Duke Energy closed its 668MW of power generation at the same complex. Falling prices for natural gas and power over the last several years were already causing the plant to struggle with the economics of converting petroleum coke to synthetic gas for electric generation.
